Project Technical Lead
Purpose of role
- Working closely with the Project Manager and the Bid Lead, responsible for the setting of the project technical delivery philosophy to enable efficient and successful project execution of agreed technical requirements while supporting the project schedule and budget requirements.
- Ensuring a strong technical systems engineering approach delivering against the engineering project delivery process.
- Ensures all technical teams on the project deliver the agreed technical requirements, the agreed technical timeline, with the required quality, and through the appropriate communication channels, thereby safeguarding the technical lifecycle from risks and issues yielding first time silicon.
- Supports and where appropriate initiates technical discussion and reviews with the customer/internal teams on project requirements, execution and milestone signoff.
What you will be doing
- Responsible for ensuring a strong technical systems engineering approach to project delivery
- Ensures all teams deliver the agreed technical requirements, the agreed technical timeline, with the required quality, and through the appropriate communication channels, thereby safeguarding the technical lifecycle from risks and issues
- Ensuring project goals and schedules are cascaded and clearly understood by the engineering team
- Being, and ensuring project technical team, are risk and change alert and escalating new technical risks and opportunities for CCNs
- Ensuring the inter-functional team interfaces are managed to ensure alignment on expected deliverables, quality and schedule
- Driving managers and engineers to execute tasks in line with required quality and agreed schedules for the assigned discipline
- Day to day management, task assignment and prioritisation for project engineers in the assigned discipline
- Displaying a customer focused approach by demonstrating clear and competent communication, issue resolution & delivery to expectation and sharing this approach with the team
- Taking ownership and responsibility of your tasks, and wider participation in Sondrel's strategic goals
- Work with Project Manager to identify resource requirements (engineers and infrastructure), risks, issues, and solutions and to recommend priorities to deliver to schedule
- Makes and enforces technical decisions in the assigned discipline for the project.
- E.g., flow, tools, guidelines, procedures etc.
- Lead by example to encourage best practice to and to create a culture of knowledge sharing within the team
- Assist with creating/updating project plans where necessary
- Track and report on progress versus plan for the assigned discipline
Qualifications
Essential
- A relevant Engineering degree
Desirable
- Demonstrable experience of technically leading SoC and ASIC projects across multiple discplines (e.g. Architecture, Front-end Design, Physical Design, Verification & DfT)
- Experience of clearly reporting on issues, risks and KPIs
- Ability to confidently challenge thinking to ensure clear procedures and correct decisions are taken
- Proven capability as a problem solver with an ability to coach others
- Good leadership skills; coaching, empowering, delegating and developing teams of people to deliver on projects
- Proven technical people management experience in a similar role
- Detailed understanding and proven experience of sharing best practices and the ability to train
- Awareness of working with external customers., including development of technical sales documents such as a Statements of Work and interacting with customers at all stages of sales process
