Staff Design Engineer
We are looking for an experienced staff design engineer to join our innovative, growing company. You’ll be a member of our talented engineering team, contributing to the design of new cutting-edge technology. The main purpose of the RTL design role is to design IP for customer specific applications. To be successful in this position, you will need to be a proactive problem solver as it is very common for our customers to ask us to develop IP blocks that differentiate the SoC we are developing from any other.
What you will be doing
- Specifying, micro-architecting, implementing and performing design verification of complex RTL IP blocks
- You'll be involved in the complete IP development cycle, from the customer’s initial concepts, through to providing support for back-end layout and silicon validation
- You'll work closely with the SoC architect to ensure designs meet the project requirements and interface correctly with the rest of the SoC
- You'll communicate with, influence and support design, verification, physical design, silicon validation, production test and product engineering
- Coaching junior designers and supporting them in all the domains of a design activities including but not limited to coding, rules and clock-crossing domain checking, debug, synthesis, DFT, links to backend (floor planning)
- Driving creative, dynamic projects with little guidance and have the ability to work independently
- Solving problems of moderate complexity maintaining a high quality in your work
- Interacting and collaborating with the more experienced team members to resolve challenging problems
- Contributing to technical white papers
- You may contribute to sales support as part of a team
What you will bring
Essential
- A degree/masters or PhD in relevant subject
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience
One or more of the following skills:
- IP design, implementation, and verification
- RTL synthesis
- Performance analysis
- Power analysis
- Knowledge of multiple sub function(s)
- Be able to apply judgment in interpreting results and conduct quantitative analysis
Desirable
- Video processing
- AXI protocols
- Digital IP protocols
- Security architecture
- IPXACT experience
- Advanced knowledge of a single sub-function OR thorough knowledge of multiple sub-functions
- Tcl, Perl and or Python, SystemC,
- HDL coding - VHDL, Verilog, System Verilog
- System design knowledge – clock domain management, reset schemes and power management
- Design for Test
- Design checking – Lint, CDC
- Power intent– UPF and or CPF
- Synthesis and constraints generation
- SoC level verification – HW/SW co-verification, multi-mode simulation, Gate-level simulation
- Database Management
- Perl, Python, Java, Tcl, IP-XACT
